Chapter 4: All Things Bright and Beautiful

I sat there on the edge of the lake's bank with my chin on my knees. I was caught between two parts of me. My heart kept wanting to see Adam yet my brain couldn't let me fall into another trap created by yours truly. But, deep down I knew Adam was different there was just something about him. I scrunched up my nose as the coldness wrapped around it. Every time I exhaled I saw a gray cloud of mist fade away before my eyes. It amazed me how things can be there one minute and gone the next before your own eyes. I felt horrible for doing that to Adam and I just wanted to forget it. But every time I try to forget about 'it' and him, I just can't. I know this is going to sounds so cliché but everything reminded me of him. Of course, it was because his source of imagination but still ever since that night he attempted to kiss me we haven't spoken. I knew I had to see him, if not to talk to him but to at least apologize for the rejection. My cousin knew where I was at and I figured she told Adam anyways so I just sat here and hoped he would come. If not, hopefully I'd work up the courage to call him over myself.

"Well, well, well. Look who's falling back into her little Emo phase."

I sneered as I heard the voice that was taunting me. "Go away John." John slowly walked up beside me and sat down by my side. "Aww, come on. I know I'm your ex but you can at least show me some shred of respect." I turned at looked at him in disbelief. "Says the guy who used to beat the living shit out of me and cheated on me, just to top it off? Yeah, John. You deserve so much respect from me." He scooted closer to me while running a finger down my cheek. "Come on, Yaz. I've changed. Honest."
"People don't change, John. Especially people like you." I slowly inched away from him in disgust. Ever since I've gotten out of that relationship with him, the sight of him cause me to feel nauseous. "I'm serious!"

I nodded sarcastically as I saw him attempt to rest his hand on mine. Pulling my hand away I groaned. "What is it you want this time, John!? A nice little one-night fling!? Because if so, you're not getting it from me, why don't you go get a nice prostitute or someone more desperate."
"Ok, then. If you're so disgusted by me than what would you call me? A slut? Hoe? Freak!?" I smirked at him while standing up and beginning to leave. "How about all of the above?" I was walking away through the trees and bushes and wasn't turning back. I heard him running until he caught up with me, sliding his grip around my wrist. "Yaz, come on. I swear I've changed why don't you believe me?" I pulled my wrist away quickly and kept looking straight ahead. "Because you're a liar, John. And you always will be. Face it, whether you like it or you can't stop lying!"

"Fine, leave. See if I care!" I nodded. "That's what I was going to do anyways, or and if you really didn't care you wouldn't be saying it." I walked away and entered the driver's seat of my car. I watched John as he walked off and left. Since most of the time I liked being alone, I lived a little ways out of town and coming here was quite a drive, but so worth it. I started my car and turned the heater on to warm up the car. The radio lit up and switched back to the home station it was on. To be honest, I loved this town to death but that radio station kind of sucked. I slid one of my Fall Out Boy cds and waited for my song to begin. Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued. I loved Fall Out Boy, but I could never pick a favorite song by them because I never hated one of their songs. As the song began, so did my vocal chords. I sang along with every word, until I was on the main road home. I didn't really like driving home at night but what could I do? Before I could think I noticed a glint in my headlights as I saw a body run across. It was a deer stopping  directly in the middle of the road, causing me to swerve to the side. The next thing I knew, my car was swerving off and crashing into a giant rock.

After that, everything went black. . .
Sorry for the ultra shortness in this one. Promise next will be better.
